# Intro

In this guide we tackle the Tidal Island, the area ruled by Hailrake. This layout has been divided to 7 different layouts, however 6 of them are navigated exactly the same way so there isn't too much complicated stuff going on in here.

You navigate through the are by always originally going from the decided side around the rock in the middle, based on the orientation of the entrance.

# Orientations

The two different orientations of Tidal Island are: TidalOri

  • In the Right orientation, the entrance is to the North-West of the character, and the general direction is toward East, or Right.
    • Right Orientation has 4 layouts:
      • RightDoubleRock
      • RightNoLedge
      • RightLedgeTurn
      • RightLedgeContinue
  • Likevise in th Left orientation, we enter the area from the North-East instead, heading West, or Left.
    • Left orientation has 3 layouts:
      • LeftDoubleRock
      • LeftNoLedge
      • LeftLedge

Every Right layout is cleared by going South of the start.

# DoubleRock

DoubleRock name comes from the area having 2 smaller rocks in the middle instead of one big one. TidalRightDoubleRock

  • You go through the South side of the rocks and eventually you'll get to Hailrake
    • You can go through the rocks if you want. I haven't done enough extensive testing to tell you if it's better to do that on average or not, but personally I usually go through them if the rock wouldn't block my way going the direction I was already going before.

# NoLedge

NoLedge is named based on the middle having a big rock, but you don't have to run through ledge. TidalRightNoLedge

  • Go south, that's pretty much it.

# LedgeTurn

LedgeTurn is based on the fact that you would have to go through a ledge to get to Hailrake from the Southern side. TidalRightLedgeTurn

  • You can tell to turn back by looking at the distance the ledge is from the big rock. If the distance is one square of an imaginary grid, you turn back.

# LedgeContinue

LedgeContinue is based on the same naming as LedgeTurn, however this time you continue through it because turning around would lose you time. TidalRightLedgeContinue

  • We can tell again by looking at the distance the ledge is from the wall.
    • If the distance is 2 or 3 squares (in the image above it's 3), you know to just keep going through it instead of turning around.

# Left

Every Left layout is cleared by going North-East side from the start.

# LeftDoubleRock

The naming works the same as in the Right layouts. We have two separate rocks. TidalLeftDoubleRock

  • As I explained above, this would be a layout that I would never go through the rock, as it's blocking my way going directly South-West. Instead you just keep hugging it.

# LeftNoLedge

We find Hailrake without seeing Ledge. TidalLeftNoLedge

  • Not much to say about this one, navigate as any other Left orientation layout, so from the Top side of the rock.

# LeftLedge

In this layout we see (and continue through) the ledge to Hailrake. TidalLeftLedge

  • The reason you want to continue through the ledge in Left layouts is that by the time ou know that you should be turning back to avoid pathing through the ledge, backtracking would actually be equally as long if not longer way than just continuing.
